Monthly Bookkeeping Service FAQ
These are the most common questions business owners ask before hiring a monthly bookkeeping service.
What does a monthly bookkeeping service include?
It includes the custom services built around your business and bookkeeping needs. This can include transaction processing, bank and credit card reconciliation, cost of goods sold tracking, asset tracking, loan reconciliation, payroll reconciliation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and much more. Every business operates differently, so the scope of work is customized to fit the complexity and workflow of your company.
How often will my books be updated and reconciled?
At minimum, the bookkeeping work is completed monthly. However, QuickBooks is often reviewed more than once throughout the month to stay ahead of the workload, monitor bank connections, and prevent issues from piling up. The goal is to keep the books organized and current instead of waiting until the last minute.
When will I receive my financial reports each month?
Financial reports are delivered after the month is fully closed and reconciled. We offer three reporting timeline options depending on the needs of the business: by the 10th, 15th, or 20th of the month. This allows businesses to choose the reporting pace that fits their workflow and decision-making needs.
What do you need from me each month to keep my bookkeeping current?
Most of the technical setup is completed during onboarding. After that, the biggest responsibility is communication. Each month there may be questions about transactions, transfers, payments, or unusual activity inside the accounts. Some months require very few questions, while others may require more depending on activity levels. Fast responses help keep the books accurate and on schedule.
How do I know if my bookkeeping is accurate?
Accounting has built-in checks and balances. The numbers either reconcile correctly or they do not. Accuracy is verified by matching the bookkeeping against bank statements, credit card statements, and loan balances each month. The goal is to make sure the financial reports reflect the real activity inside the business with no guessing involved.
Do you work directly with my CPA or tax preparer?
Yes. Collaboration with your CPA or tax preparer is an important part of the process. If questions come up, we can work together to solve problems, clarify bookkeeping activity, and help create the smoothest experience possible for the business owner. If reports or documents are needed, they are typically provided through the CPA’s requested portal or process. Tax strategy and filing stay in the CPA’s Lane while bookkeeping stays in ours.
Do I still need a bookkeeper if I already use QuickBooks Online?
Yes. QuickBooks Online is software, not a bookkeeping department. The software helps organize information, but it does not complete reconciliations, review accuracy, clean up errors, or manage the monthly bookkeeping workflow for you. The quality of the reports still depends on the quality of the bookkeeping behind them.
Can monthly bookkeeping help me make better business decisions?
Absolutely. In many ways, that is the biggest reason monthly bookkeeping matters. Accurate bookkeeping helps business owners understand profitability, cash flow, spending patterns, debt, and financial trends throughout the year. Good decisions are much easier to make when the numbers are organized, current, and reliable.
